Moving to a Big Girl Bed

Brooke reached out to me to help redesign her toddler's space. With a new baby they wanted to move their girl to the former guest room and wanted to make this transition exciting. I love helping parents nest in their homes. Brooke asked me to design a room that was "magical". I understood the assignment.

Brooke asked that I work with the following:

Brook lives in Australia, so I had the unique challenge of looking for shops and items that were available in Australia or would ship affordably to her area. I think was able to come up with some great options.

The Design Concepts

I love designing kids rooms so I went a little overboard in the number of options. I didn't have photoshop for a minute so I used Google Presentations to mock-up these mood boards. Then Brooke selected the one she liked the best and we moved forward with that. I did a remake in Photoshop later on to give a real feel for the chosen design.

Paint

The next step for Brooke was to find a paint color that matched the design. Because there were not the same stores I was used to working with I couldn't simply send over paint samples to try. I did send over a paint color or two to try and match. However, paint always looks different in a space then online or in a store. It has to do with lighting, floor color and other colors in the space that cause the paint to pull warmer or cooler.

Brooke and I worked together virtually to find the right shade. She ended up getting a lot of samples. But we were able to find the perfect color for her space!

Brooke did a beautiful job painting her daughter's wall.

A short while later the golden peel and stick stars arrived.

I love when I get to see my clients bring their spaces together! So beautiful!
